Lancaster Coffee House & Wine Bar in Ulverstone has now been open for its first month since Diane Thomas took over in early September. We have received some great feedback about our coffee and about Diane’s amazing food. Diane and her staff turned out a beautiful breakfast for us all recently, including a great kids plate for two excited children.

Drop in and try it out for yourself at 1/1 Reibey Street, Ulverstone.

They are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9.30am-4.30pm, and Sunday, 8.30am-3.30pm. For bookings phone 6425 4729.

Cafebiz & Beanology 2011 - Melbourne

Beanology in Melbourne

A recent visit to Melbourne gave Infuse Coffee the opportunity to rub shoulders with the likes of Phillip DiBella, Joseph Rivera and the founder of coffeesnobs, Andy Freeman.

The weekend formed part of the 2011 Cafebiz expo and was enhanced by Andy Freeman's limited access Beanology. This amazing series of informative seminars included a 2 hour presentation by world renouned Joseph Rivera, founder of Coffee Chemistry based in America.

Joseph spoke on the chemistry surrounding coffee and the reactions the beans undertake throughout the roasting process. His informative presentation changed the way we now look at our roasting, with more emphasis now on how and when the chemical reactions take place and how we can use them in our favour.

Andy Freeman had the room set up beautifully... a coffee snobs dream. Every coffee brewing device you could think of was present to try out. Aero presses, plungers, syphons, the OTTO, a 1970's lever action espresso machine and so many other great toys.

The weekend also included machine maintenance, roast profiling and an informative presentation by Mark Beattie from Coffee Roasters Australia.

And who could not forget the other 50 or so fellow Coffeesnobs from all over Australia, it was a great opportunity to meet other "snobs" and put names to faces.

We are looking forward to Beanology 2 in 2012!

The establishment of Infuse Coffee Roasters

Based in Burnie Tasmania, we are a couple who appreciate coffee and found a niche in the market for fresh and consistently roasted, quality coffee.

Frustrated with a limited choice and not-so-fresh beans in the local market, we began roasting our own. What started at home on the barbeque as a pleasurable hobby, soon initiated a successful boutique business and the establishment of Infuse Coffee Roasters.

As demand grew, we further developed our processes and invested in our roaster from Turkey. Infuse Coffee was registered as a business in April 2010 and we are already proudly selling our product in 20 outlets in the local region, in addition to a shop in Hobart. We also run a successful e-commerce store at www.infusecoffee.com.au

Our business has evolved through hard work, research, dedication and a great deal of passion. Although we have both worked for government departments, local council and private enterprise, this is our first small business.

Ours is a new, uncharted commercial business for the North West Coast of Tasmania. We not only own the business but are very proud of the fact that we are responsible for every facet of Infuse Coffee’s development, from the installation of our roastery, producing our product, vibrant packaging, marketing, promoting and selling.

Previous to the establishment of Infuse Coffee, there was no other business in specialty coffee roasting in our region.

Our coffee packaging proudly states it’s roasted in Burnie, Tasmania. It’s fresh and on opening the bag the customer notices the difference. That is our Unique Selling Proposition and we promote the fact.

It’s important to be proud of our product and we have marketed Infuse Coffee that way. Our packaging is designed to stand out on retail shelves, with vibrant green bags and clear branding.

Our goal is to get Infuse Coffee on retail shelves and into homes. We want to develop a brand associated with a high quality, consistent product backed by good service.

We have developed a sound customer base we are building on daily. We have designed our logos, branding and website ourselves and these are a reflection of our business and coffee - clean, fresh, modern and vibrant.

Currently, we have 10 different varieties of coffee available, including our own blends. Each month we also offer a special limited release coffee, featuring a particular unique single origin bean or blend. This ensures we maintain the interest of those who like variety.

The addition of our e-commerce site has added a totally different dimension to our business by opening up our product to the nation and made our business more sustainable. Some of our beans are exclusively available on our website – they cannot be purchased in stores.

Our website offers a very user friendly shopping interface and includes regular news updates, newsletters and more.

To enable us to interact with our customers more, we utilise social media sites including FaceBook and Twitter. Additionally, we send a monthly “Infuse-iastic” newsletter to those who have registered on our website and Facebook sites. “Infuse-iastic” is a single page publication which gives concise information regarding our latest developments and snippets of information that may be of interest to our customers.

The CGU North West Business Awards were held in Devonport recently and Infuse Coffee Roasters were nominated in 3 categories.

After making it to finalists in all three categories, we were excited to hear our business named as the winner of the WIN Television successful start-up award.
